Grants
Need-based aid including federal, state, and institutional grants. These typically do not need to be repaid.
Need is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Loans
Loans shown on your aid offer are Federal Loans you qualify for by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
All loans are paid directly to the school to help cover balances up to the cost of attendance.
Federal Work-Study
On-campus employment opportunities for eligible students.
There are various positions on campus or in the community for which eligible students may apply. Students are paid directly for the hours worked .

Both are forms of "gift aid" that typically don’t need to be repaid, but a grant is typically need-based (e.g., Pell Grant), while scholarships are often merit-based (e.g., for academic or athletic achievement).

Subsidized loans don’t accumulate interest while the student is in school at least half time (not including summer) whereas unsubsidized loans start accruing interest as soon as they’re disbursed.

To be considered for all available financial aid, students must apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Completing the FAFSA and receiving an aid offer with Federal loans does not obligate a student or parent to accept any federal loans, however, the FAFSA does allow the school to evaluate the need of the student for any additional scholarships or grants.
All awards are offered with the assumption that the student will attend Eckerd College as a full time student. Awards may be adjusted for enrollment of less than full time.
The financial aid offer includes all funds that the student is eligible to receive.
